A rabbi is demanding that New York lawmakers change gun laws to allow Jews to carry weapons, the New York Post reported.
Gary Moskowitz, a former New York police officer and rabbi of a Queens synagogue, is trying to convince politicians to change city laws to allow members of all synagogues throughout the five boroughs to carry weapons.
"People are afraid," he said, referring to violence against Jews in France and Germany. "The violence is coming here, if it has not already," he said.
“All places of worship that have received credible threats should be eligible to legally allow its members to carry firearms,” Moskowitz said.
However, politicians are vehemently opposed to the idea. “We need less guns on the street not more,” one lawmaker commented.
