334 ‘reformed’ Saudis return to terror

A total of 334 Saudi militants have rejoined terrorist groups after they were released from prisons or passed out from Prince Mohammed bin Naif Counseling Center in Jeddah, an official source said.

As many as 1,696 individuals have benefited from the center's 112 courses that encourage militants to mend their ways and become good citizens.

"Among the Guantanamo Bay returnees, 120 have benefited from the center's programs," said the source, adding that nearly 20 percent of them have returned back to militancy. The center's courses include lessons in English, economics, history, politics, psychological and social matters, and art. "Inmates are allowed to read selected books," the source said.

"Books of certain authors have been banned because of their extremist content," he said.

Capacity building programs would enable the center's graduates to lead a normal life, he added.
