Record number of two million people visited Auschwitz in 2016

More than two million people walked through the gates of Auschwitz in 2016 to learn about the history of the Nazi death camp.

Last year some 2,053,000 people from all over the world visited the site of the camp which operated in German-occupied Poland, where more than one million men, women and children died, the Auschwitz museum said.

This was a "record number" in the history of the memorial, which will mark the 70th anniversary of its opening this year.

* Yet Education Scotland, a Scottish Government executive agency charged with supporting quality and improvement in Scottish education, is sponsoring a private individual to promote an educational resource for Scottish school-children on “Israel/Palestine”, based partly “To counter the Holocaust narrative”.

As less and less people directly affected by the Holocaust or were primary witnesses to it are still living, Holocaust revisionists are taking the opportunity to promote their anti-Semitic narratives.

We must be vigilant now, more than ever.
