Viva convoy sets off from Syria with so-called aid to Gaza

Sunday 17 October 2010

The lefty fifth Viva Palestina solidarity convoy will weigh anchor in the Syrian port of Latakia and set off for Gaza on Monday.
Bad weather prevented the 375 activists on the convoy from leaving the port at the weekend.
Some 150 vehicles are carrying aid to the the so-called besieged Palestinian people including medical equipment, food and school supplies and other relief cargo.
The convoy set off from England four weeks ago.
It has since been joined by others from Morocco, Algeria, Jordan and the Gulf States.
Organisers say it will be the largest aid convoy to break "their imaginary siege" since the Israeli conflit with the terrorists Hamas in January last year.
The convoy includes around 40 survivors from the Mavi Marmara incident which they hope Israel will faces prosecution in the International Criminal Court.
