Austrian police believe that vandals which smashed five ancient gravestones a Jewish cemetery were more likely to be drunken louts from a local festival rather than people acting through anti-Semitic motivation.
The attack on the Jewish cemetery at Hohenems meant that five gravestones were pushed over and two of those were broken and cannot be replaced.
But at the same time there were similar vandalism attacks at a nearby marquee festival where several benches were also smashed at about the same time and police believe the same individuals were responsible.
The tent Festival took place very near to the cemetery and it was probably somebody that had drunk too much the carried out both incidents.
The Jewish cemetery is under monumental protection and has been since 1967.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch by calling 059133/8142100.
