Israeli Diplomats in British media, Discuss Iran

this week, as Davos 2014 – the World Economic Forum – starts, Ambassador Taub appeared on radio 4 discussing the situation with Iran and why the international community should reject the Iranian charm offensive. Yiftah Curiel, Embassy Spokesperson,

Ambassador Taub told Radio 4 listeners, “Our concern is that this façade has very little to do with the reality of what is going on in Iran today”. He went on to say that “If you look beyond the façade and the tweets, we see that in Iran itself very little has changed. Rouhani was elected 5 months ago, since then there have been 380 executions, 40 of them just in the first 2 weeks of this year”.

Yiftah Curiel, speaking to Newsday listeners on the BBC said, “It may be that some neighbouring countries are happy about the [Iranian] deal. However, some surely are not. Politics of the region are very complex and changing. Israel would very much like to see a diplomatic solution. Simply at this point, this specific solution may not be enough as far as we are concerned.”
