In a time when Syrian President Assad is committing a democide against his own people and supporting terrorist groups such as Hezbollah, any Israeli attack that would prevent lethal weapons from falling into the hands of terror organizations is justified.

He also claimed that Israel has the right to “confirm or deny any strikes that have taken place.” Israel has yet to comment officially about the two strikes that allegedly targeted Iranian weapons that were destined for their proxy, the terror group, Hezbollah.

Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Tel Aviv University, Professor Eyal Zisser, told Arutz Sheva that there was nothing new in these alleged Syrian attacks since this was not the first time that Israel has attacked Syria with the goal of preventing weapons transfers to Hezbollah. Zisser believes that while the State of Israel has zero desire to interfere in the Syrian civil war, it will nevertheless take action to ensure that Syria’s weapons don’t fall into the hands of terror organizations. He does not believe that Syria will respond to an Israeli attack since Assad is too busy fighting his “real enemies,” the rebels that seek to overthrow him, yet he might be forced to rethink his position if Israeli attacks continue.
Interestingly enough, some Muslims would be appreciative should Israel decide to get involved in the Syrian conflict. Ceylan Ozbudak, a Turkish Muslim television commentator, is sympathetic to the idea of Israel attacking Syria. “What has been going on in Syria for the last 2 years, since March 2011, is a terrible massacre. The massacre committed by the Assad regime against the people of Syria has been continuing unabated; it is estimated that more than 70,000 people have lost their lives so far. Due to the internal crisis raging in Syria, three million Syrians have been displaced internally and one million have fled to neighboring countries” she stated.
“People have been slaughtered in masses and all countries had an excuse not to intervene. I can see there are legitimate excuses for some countries but this doesn’t change the threat the Assad regime exposes to its own people and to the neighboring countries,” Ozbudak declared. “Israel’s” alleged “intervention was targeting only the military targets, which justifies Israel’s actions totally. In these kind of interventions, it’s extremely crucial not to target civilian populated areas and spare human lives. As long as we can secure not losing more lives while trying to save further damage to humanity, of course chemical weapons and pivotal points of heavy weaponry should have been destroyed long before.”
She concluded, “So no matter what the consequences are, the regime proved to be hostile to its own people and should be stopped. I understand the narrative saying there are extremist elements in the opposition groups but how can we forget Hezbollah is fighting on the side of the regime? Hezbollah’s Leader Hasan Nasrallah openly states that they will never let Syria fall. Plus, considering Israel has established hospitals on the Golan Heights to treat wounded Syrians and the fact that many Syrians were transferred to Israel to be treated in Israeli hospitals, in my opinion Israeli regime has already proven not to be hostile to the Syrian people.”
Given the fact that Assad is committing a democide against his own people and is actively assisting terrorist organizations, his government does not really have the right to lecture Israel about aggression.Any Israeli attack upon Syria would merely be self-defense to prevent lethal weapons from ending up in the hands of terror organizations that may use them or a response to rockets that were fired into Israeli territory from Syria. As much as Assad’s regime needs to be stopped for the sake of humanity, Israel is not going to initiate an attack against Syria unless Syria threatens Israel’s national security by passing on lethal weapons to terrorist groups. Thus, any alleged attack upon Syria designed to prevent dangerous weapons from falling into the hands of Hezbollah is justified.
