Effort to fight Israel boycott spreading in Scottish Local politics

British Blogs

Hi Friends, Members,

A new year but Israel will continue to face the on-going assault from racists and bigots around the world in general and, in particular for Scottish Friends of Israel (SFI), also in Scotland. Many of you will already be aware of the actions of some MSPs to deligitimise Israel and its supporters in the Scottish Parliament and by, at the moment, West Dunbartonshire Council and Stirling Council recent decisions to boycott Israel.

2011 will see a greater effort to spread this boycott to other councils and I ask your help in monitoring the council within which you live in this regard. I believe that Renfrewshire District Council and Fife may be the next targets but the ugly head of racism could pop up anywhere.

SFI supporters live in various areas of Scotland. Aberdeenshire, Ayrshire, Dundee, Edinburgh, East Renfrewshire, East Lothian, Fife, Glasgow and Renfrewshire. Details of your councillors, their contact information, future council meetings and agendas (where motions are first lodged) can be accessed at:

An early heads-up on these kind of motions can give me, you, and the SFI a chance to challenge the lies and misinformation.
