David Beckham Helping Homeless War Veterans

David Beckham is getting behind a campaign that aims to give homeless war veterans a helping hand.

The soccer legend follows in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie by becoming a backer of the Homeless Veterans appeal, launched by Britain’s The Independent newspaper.

The drive raises funds for two charities which aim to make sure struggling heroes are given the help they need, and Beckham insists brave troops should not be forgotten once they return from the frontline.

He says, “The men and women of our Armed Forces serve their country, putting their lives on the line, and never ask for anything in return… The Homeless Veterans appeal has shown us that sometimes veterans need our help, whether they are out on the streets, living in a hostel or in need of help keeping warm in their own homes in winter.”

J-Connection: The British soccer star considers himself Jewish—or at least half Jewish. Beckham’s maternal grandfather was Jewish, but Beckham wrote in his autobiography, “I’ve probably had more contact with Judaism than with any other religion.”
