A prominent Jewish couple was stabbed to death in their Istanbul home on Friday, theHurriyet Daily News reported.
Police found the bodies of Jak Karako, 77, and his wife, Georgia Karako, 69, – founders of Ören Bayan, a leading Turkish textile company – at their apartment in Istanbul’s Ortaköy neighborhood on Aug. 22.
The couple’s caretaker fled the scene and is being searched by the police as a suspect.
“There have been several reported murders of Turkish Jewish businessmen throughout the past several years, but these incidents were either never solved or were blamed on some small local disputes which the community always looked at with suspicion,” an anonymous source with knowledge of the Turkish Jewish community told Algemeiner.
