The ZF is helping the Israeli Embassy to organise a solidarity vigil on the 24th of February in London, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester. These vigils will include eminent speakers, and the releasing of symbolic Chinese lanterns to represent the number of days Gilad Shalit has been held prisoner.
In addition, two ‘ad-vans’ will be driving around Central London and Manchester for two weeks, telling the story of Gilad, alongside a large picture (see attached). This will be supplemented with leafleting alongside the van. If you would like to volunteer to flier for an hour, please email gary@zfuk.org.

IC Event in Israel

IsraelConnectIsrael is very excited to invite you to join us for a truly interesting evening of politics, discussions and good conversation! An evening with MK Yoel Hasson.
MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima, b. 1972) is meeting with us, and talking about how young people can get involved in politics and influence our society. How do party politics work in Israel? What are the risks and challanges one face when getting involved in politics? WHat are the perks, the fun - and the drive that keeps one going? What is the role of 'leadership' in our generation and does social activism necessarily mean political envolvement?
Yoel has lots of experience in this, as he was the head of the national leadership of Beitar (The Revisionist Zionist Youth Movement), and later becamechairman of the Council of Israeli Youth Movements. He has served as an adviser to Ariel Sharon when he was the Prime Minister. In 2004, Yoel was elexcted as chairman of the Likud, but left the party in 2005 and joined Kadima. He has been serving as an MK since 2006.
...and he is going to share with us some 'tricks of the trade' and insider observations.

ZF launches Ambassador Programme for Sixth Form Students

Last Sunday saw the launch of the ZF Ambassador Programme for Sixth Form Students. The Young Ambassador Programme is a prestigious year-long programme for sixth form students who were chosen via a recruiting process aimed to find the 20 most motivated, dedicated and capable young Zionist leaders in the community. The programme includes training and education to improve Israeli knowledge, leadership skills, project initiation and implementation. Along with the training sessions, the group will plan and implement an Israel education programme to prepare other sixth form students to deal with anti-Israel arguments they may encounter on campus.
The first session saw a briefing to the group by Deputy Ambassador, Alon Roth-Snir, who congratulated the group on their acceptance to the programme, and thanked them - both as a diplomat, and as an Israeli - for taking on the task of becoming Ambassadors of Israel.

The Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian Crisis, by Dore Gold - Initially, it was widely observed that the Muslim Brotherhood has been very low-key during the current crisis in Egypt. Most analysts admitted that it is the best organized and largest opposition group in Egypt, but they played down its role. Yet since January 28, the Muslim Brotherhood's involvement has become more prominent. One tangible example is the support the Brotherhood has given to Mohamed ElBaradei to lead the opposition forces against the government.

An IDF medical crew, consisting of a paramedic, three medics, and the Deputy Commander of the Valley Brigade, Lt. Col. Shalom Eisner, were called to the area. Since the area was unreachable by ambulance, the woman was brought to the vehicle on a stretcher, and during the drive on Route 90 prematurely began to give birth.
A word of advice from Northern Ireland, by Nigel Dodds - Nigel Dodds, who recently spoke at the ZF lobby of parliament writes: "Since its foundation, Israel has been a flame of light in a region of despotic darkness. It is a flame of freedom, of democracy and of human rights. In a region plagued by dictatorship, nepotism and corruption, such light is sorely needed".
