DFM Ayalon met today (06.02.11) with a delegation of British Members of Parliament from the Conservative Party. These MP's constitute the party's Middle East Council. The Council is the body that works to advance the relationships with Arab countries by organizing delegations of British MP's to Arab countries. The group’s importance derives from the fact that although most of their information comes from Arab sources and is gathered during their visits to these countries and to the Palestinian Authority, the Council is open to receive Israel's point of view, evaluations and perspectives.
During the meeting Ayalon presented the delegation with Israel's perspective on issues such as the peace process, negotiations with the PA and provided information regarding Israel's policy towards improving and enhancing the Palestinian economy.
Ayalon also talked about the de-legitimization campaign against Israel and focused on the difference between legitimate criticism and those who call for an academic, economic and cultural boycott on Israel which is counterproductive to peace.
DFM Ayalon congratulated the delegation on Britain's decision to change its universal legislation and called for the continuation of that process.
